About me

Greetings, thank you for taking a look at my website – if you need to contact me, please use the contact form included on this website.  OlorinPC.com (A.K.A. Jake’s Corner) is written, designed, coded, etc… by myself (Jakob Barnard) in my spare time.  OlorinPC.com has existed in one form or another for quite a few years now.  I actually bothered to first register the domain name on January 1st, 2001, though I have gone by “Olorin” or “Olorinpc” for well over 15 years at this point.

If you are looking for my online resume, portfolio, and academic information, please head on over to jakobbarnard.com!

Prior to college I grew up in southern Minnesota, lived in the Middle East for a couple of years, and have traveled extensively. I graduated from Hastings High School in Hastings, MN in 2000 and moved to Jamestown, ND to attend Jamestown College. While there I participated in numerous activities. I was both a Student Senator and Senate Secretary in my time with the JC Student Senate. With the college news publication, The Collegian, I was Web Editor and during my Sr. year – Editor-in-Chief. I graduated with a History-Political Science degree and a minor in German in the spring of 2005.

From 2007 to February 2013, I worked at UTC Aerospace Systems as the Business Intelligence Lead for the Interiors division.  In March 2013, briefly left UTAS to start working at RealTruck.com as a Brand Manager.  Mid-August 2013, I returned to my position at UTC Aerospace Systems to resume working as a Business Intelligence Specialist.  After a layoff from UTAS at the end of 2015, I returned to RealTruck as an IT Specialist where I continue to work.

I was married in September 2006 in Jamestown. We have a house, pets, a son, and are both heavily involved in the community.  You can learn more about my community involvement on the “Community” page on this site.
