NaNo 2010 Novel Synopsis

Well a little late with the post today, but better late than never!  I have been working on outlining and scribbling down notes for my 2010 shot at writing a NaNo novel.  Today I took all of that and put together a brief synopsis of the story.  It is not perfect yet of course, but I can revise it once the novel is actually written.  If there is one thing I learned from last year, who knows what directions events might take!

Also, raising the bar this year.  The NaNoWriMo goal is 50,000 words, well I am raising it for myself to a nice even 60,000 words.  I updated my NaNo user page with the novel information, but I am going to post here as well.

Synopsis: The End of Twilight

When magic meets science…

Hektor an initiate of the Wizard’s Council makes a frightening discovery – the legends of the Crystal Wars are real. The Draconus systems and their planets aren’t the only ones out there. Followers of a path called “Science” are out there with their own systems lead by the Technocrats.

What is the truth? Why has this knowledge been kept hidden away? This discovery will set one man on a mission for the truth and a path that leads him to the edges of both societies.

Kaistarix is the captain of a scout ship hunting for new sources of crystal. She gambles and enters a forbidden zone in search of a quick discovery to even a score. What she discovers there will set her on a collision path with her own people and the Draconus systems.

Enter a universe where both magic and science exist. They are forbidden to mix. Punishment for doing so is harsh and swift…

That is the working title and synopsis at least.  It is a start and still got a bit of time to continue planning, taking notes, and world building.

  1. Paige says:

Sounds good!! I hope to write for NANOWRIMO also, but we will see :)

  2. Yea, I think it is going to be tough this year. November is looking to be a very busy month, but that is part of the challenge!

Basically going to shoot for a target way above the min and hope I hit at least the minimum :)

Still haven’t decided if I am going with the 60k goal line, or really push it and reach for 75k. Guess I will have to wait and see how the story goes as well. Make sure to add me as a writing buddy! Helps inspire one to keep going. Last year Shane and I kept battling the whole way. “Dude I am 3k ahead of you – slacking off already” is a great inspiration ;)
