Scrivener for Windows

I was excited to get this email today. Scrivener is my favorite writing application. It is how I like to organize ideas, brainstorm, outline, write, etc. To date it has been a MacOS X only application. Seeing as I don’t have a Mac, a little hard to use. I had a test (warning geek talk here) virtual Mac environment. Let’s just say it was a hair unstable, so even the legitimate license I purchased for the software wasn’t of much use to me. (I was impressed and liked the software that after NaNoWriMo 2009 I went ahead and purchased a copy thinking I might go Mac.) Well since I review PC hardware now on the side, going Mac isn’t a very practical solution.

Today though that glorious email showed up in my inbox!  A Windows version of Scrivener is coming out soon!  I had signed up for a notification email a long, long time ago.  A public beta will be out in time for NaNo 2010.  Being somewhat familiar with the program and having used it for a bit, it should be fun to hop right into a Nano marathon using it.

• When Scrivener for Windows goes on sale early next year it will cost $40 for the regular license and $35 for the education license.

• Scrivener for Windows will run on Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.

• Anyone who participates in NaNoWriMo this year and achieves their 50,000 words (and has them validated) will get a 50% discount coupon which they will be able to use when Scrivener for Windows is released next year.

• To whet your appetite, we have put together a small teaser video, which you can view here, along with more information:

The corkboard is probably my favorite function of the application. Yes it can be found elsewhere, but this app ties it all in together very well.

If you are a Mac user, there is a 30 day free trial to find out if you like the application or not.  Window’s users – I will admin, I had lost hope, but apparently this has been in development for the last two years.  As I said with my blogging, I am not half bad when I can stay organized.  This application does for me what the Editorial Calendar does for my blogs – keeps me organized so I can focus on the ideas!

I will keep everyone updated on the status of this app.   I was wondering what I was going to use for NaNo this year, but now I know!
